A large number of children regularly visit one or other parent in prison and it is necessary to provide some form of entertainment and stimulation for them whilst their parents spend some time together. There need to be knowledgeable and dedicated play workers available for all visits sessions for these facilities to be available to the children.

WHAT?

Play projects provide a variety of opportunities for children to have fun and be creative, from face painting and craft activities through to slides and climbing frames, puzzles, books and games. Many of the children that make use of the play areas will have experienced a great deal of emotional upset and instability in their lives and so may well exhibit a variety of challenging behaviour patterns.

WHO?

Anyone who has experience of working with children either in an educational setting or in clubs or societies and feels that they might be able to give some time on a regular basis.

HOW?

Contact with your local prison or young offenders institution and have a chat with the visits play worker.
